Vision

In the 21st century every newborn child in Bartholomew County will receive appropriate prenatal medical care and nourishment.

After birth and throughout childhood and the years of schooling, each child will also be provided

  • encouragement, support and unconditional love from his or her family, or from at least one adult who is a reliable, stable presence in his or her life;
  • food, clothing and shelter that ensures healthy growth and development;
  • appropriate medical care;
  • home, school and other supervised environments where he or she is safe from violence and abuse;
  • equal opportunities for learning and social development so that his or her full potential will be realized.

The community will provide an environment that undergirds the efforts of parents to care for their children and will act as a safety net for children as necessary. Life in our community for our children and youth will be meaningful and happy, as they understand that they have the power, the right, the opportunity and the responsibility to achieve their full potential.
